Aiming to build the best partnerships with our customers

Shimadzu Corporation has established Shimadzu Industrial Systems Co., Ltd., as a wholly owned subsidiary by merging Shimadzu Emit and Shimadzu Mectem in April 2018, in order to integrate the industrial infrastructure equipment business of both companies. Ever since Shimadzu Mectem’s establishment in 1962 as a subsidiary of Shimadzu Corporation, we have contributed to society through the pursuit of high-level technology and expertise. Shimadzu Industrial Systems has accumulated technologies over a long period of time that have led to the current core technologies of vacuum and heat treatment, high-speed film deposition, liquid transfer at high viscosities and pressures, liquid feeding/hydraulic equipment, high-speed rotation control, valve control equipment, X-ray inspection, and dynamic balancing machines.

Furthermore, through the pursuit of the synergy between both companies over a wide range, we intend to create new forms of innovation leading to the formation of a global leading company capable of being constantly aware of our client's needs. We full expect the new company to grow in both the domestic and foreign industrial markets while we confront a variety of new challenges.

History

January 1962 The casting business was separated from Shimadzu Corporation to establish Shimadzu Kinzoku Kogyo Co., Ltd. on the current site and the company started manufacturing various casting products.
April 1965 The machining department was added to start manufacturing industrial X-ray inspection instruments.
March 1973 Shimasei Kikai Co., Ltd. was established as a sales and service company for winders for spinning and liquid delivery equipment manufactured by the Machinery Division of Shimadzu Corporation with a capital of 5 million yen.
March 1977 The department manufacturing power transmission equipment (gear machinery) was separated from Shimadzu Corporation to establish Konan Corporation in the current site and the company started manufacturing power transmission equipment.
April 1984 Changed the corporate name to Shimadzu Kinzoku Seiko Co., Ltd. and integrated all businesses of Konan Corporation.
April 1987 Received the right to manufacture nondestructive inspection instruments from Shimadzu Corporation and started manufacturing nondestructive inspection instruments for various industries.
March 1988 Withdrew from the casting business.
April 1992 The service department of Shimasei Kikai Co., Ltd. and a department of Shimadzu Instruments Co., Ltd. (currently Shimadzu System Solutions Co., Ltd.) were consolidated to establish Shimadzu Industrial Instruments Service Co., Ltd. with a capital of 20 million yen.
May 1993 Took over Shimadzu Corporation's industrial furnace business and started manufacturing various vacuum dewaxing sintering and baking furnaces.
April 1994 Changed the corporate name to Shimadzu MECTEM, Inc.
October 1994 Integrated Shimadzu Industrial Instruments Service Co., Ltd. as the merging company and Shimasei Kikai Co., Ltd. as the merged company and established Shimadzu EMIT Co., Ltd. with a capital of 40 million yen.
July 1997 Opened the Hadano Works in Hadano City, Kanagawa Prefecture and commenced operation.
October 1998 Contracted manufacture of industrial machines including gear pumps and glass fiber winders from Shimadzu Corporation.
February 1999 Shimadzu MECTEM acquired an ISO9001 certificate.
February 2001 Shimadzu EMIT acquired an ISO9001 certificate.
March 2001 Withdrew from the power transmission equipment business.
April 2001 Opened the Hiroshima Sales Office in Hiroshima City and Nagoya Sales Office in Nagoya City and started sales activities for all models.
July 2001 Acquired an ISO14001 certificate.
December 2005 Established a joint venture company for manufacturing industrial vacuum furnaces in Zhejiang Province, China.
December 2006 Liquidated the joint venture and the company started as Ningbo Shimadzu Vacuum Technology Development Co., Ltd.
April 2007 The industrial machinery business was transferred from Shimadzu Corporation.
March 2010 A new factory of Ningbo Shimadzu Vacuum Technology Development Co., Ltd. was completed.
May 2012 Some nondestructive inspection instrument models were transferred from Shimadzu Corporation.
March 2013 The office building of Ningbo Shimadzu Vacuum Technology Development Co., Ltd. was completed.
April 2013 Semiconductor equipment and helium leak detectors were transferred from Shimadzu Corporation.
December 2013 A new head office was completed.
April 2014 Shimadzu EMIT moved its head office and Kyoto Works from the Murasakino Works of Shimadzu Corporation to the Seta Works of Shimadzu Corporation, and changed the name to head office and Seta Works.
July 2017 Received business transferred from Shonan Shimadzu Corporation and started the development, manufacture, and sales of dynamic balancing machines. Opened the Murasakino Works, Kyoto Sales Office, Hadano Sales Office, and South Korea branch according to the transfer.
April 2018 Shimadzu MECTEM, Inc. and Shimadzu EMIT Co., Ltd. merged and Shimadzu Industrial Systems Co., Ltd. started.
